5 Living Legends of Pakistan

These well known personalities have not only done extremely well for Pakistans media industry, in fact they have been very successful in portraying a positive image of Pakistan around the globe. Having numerous awards and titles under their names they have inspired millions to believe in themselves and to work with zeal and fervor in achieving their goals.




1-Abida Parveen
The "Queen of Sufi " music does not need any introduction,she is referred as one of the worlds greatest mystic singers who sings in Urdu,Sindhi,Saraiki,Punjabi and Persian.Her famous works includes "Yaar Ko Humne Ja Baja Daikha".She has received many awards and her joyful voice is recognized through out the world. Perveen has a very distinctive dress sense,her attire is always accompanied by an ajrak (sindhi dupatta) which she claims comes from a dargah (mausoleum).


2-Bushra Ansari
An immensely talented and versatile actress,television presenter,singer,comedian,play writer and what not.She started her career in 1960s and has won numerous awards including Pakistan's highest civilian award "Pride Of Performance"in 1989.She is well known for her roles in many drama serials like" Aangan Terha","Fifty Fifty" and recently we have seen her giving a killing performance in a drama serial called "Udaari".We wish to see more of this graceful lady who even at the age of 60 is making the new actors drool over her performances.


3-Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
The nephew of a legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (late) is a internationally acclaimed singer and Qawwal,who has provided major hits for the Indian film fraternity. Fatehs melodious voice is one of its kind in the subcontinent which is loved by people of all ages.His appearance in coke-studio season 9 has been much appreciated by his fans.


4-Anwar Maqsood
He belongs to a prominent family of Pakistan with having Fatima Suriya Bajia, Bilal Maqsood of STRINGS and Zubaida Tariq to his clan.Maqsood is a playwright,lyricist,poet and a painter who has also been associated with Pakistan Television Corporation (PTC) for several years.his career milestones are" Fifty Fifty","Aangan Terha " and "Sitara Aur Mehrunnisa"



5-Jawed Shaikh
The great Pakistani actor ,director and producer of the lollywood/bollywood industry is still the heart throb of millions of people.Due to his good looks,acting skills and direction he has has been able to make a big name in the industry not only in pakistan but across the border too.He acted as a debutant in the film "Dhamaka" which followed some major hits like"Yay Dil Apka Hua","Ohm Shaanti Ohm".

Cyber Crime in Pakistan

Cyber crime comprises of a network that is related to one another by technological means including ,cell phones, internet,computer etc.It encompasses all the offences that are committed against a particular group ,ethnicity or over all in general. Actions like hacking ,copyright infringement,breaking into someones elses private and confidential information and other crimes may threaten a nations security and financial health.
Recently in Pakistan National assembly passed the cyber crime bill which has now been formulated into a law as it has been  agreed upon by the senate and given confirmation by the president of Pakistan.After the approval of the cyber crime law the agencies like FIA feels that their role is not much of use and they are not sure whether they'll be mandated to peruse cyber crime complaints in future or not.
Some prominent voices which have been recognized or have been heard around the world includes a lady called NIGHAT DAAD ,an internet activist who is the founder of an NGO called digital right foundation in 2012.She has been listed in the time magazine under the name of next generations leader who will help Pakistani women fight against online harassment. She aims to counter gender-based harassment,governments mass surveillance and companies actions that impacts individual rights,her foundation educates women on how to respond to online harassment which is also a form of cyber crime.


With increased used of the electronic media like laptops,mobile,iPads ,iPhone it is important to know the ethics of of using such means of mass communications to avoid ending up in trouble ,here are some things to keep in  mind
  • Unauthorized access
     to anyone’s phone, laptop etc. can put you behind the bars for three months or a fine of Rs. 50,000 imposed or both
  • Unauthorized copying of anyone’s data can put you behind bars for six months or a fine of Rs. 100,000 imposed or both
  • Damaging data of anyone’s phone, laptop etc. can put you behind bars for two years or a fine of up to Rs. 500,000 or both
  • Unauthorized access to critical data (such as govt website) can land you in jail for up to three years or a fine of up to Rs. 1 Million or both
  • Unauthorized Interception
     can land you in jail for a term of two years or with fine up to five hundred thousand rupees or with both.
  • Offenses against dignity of a person: Spreading false information of anyone can get you jail for three years or a fine of Rs. one million or both
  • Displaying or showing a sexually explicit image/video of anyone can land you in jail for seven years or a fine of up to Rs. five million or both
  • Writing or spreading a malicious code can get you in jail for two years or a fine of Rs. one million or both

Also known by the slang term "Jingle Aris" is a colorful form of fantastical imagery with its intricate desgins that can be seen painted on the trucks plying across Pakistan. The term JINGLE TRUCK comes from United States military slang which was coined by service men in Afghanistan. This unique form of art is not only recognized in Pakistan ,it has inspired designers across the globe.The Italian fashion company Dolce and Gabbana used truck art inspired displays in 2015 campaign for women clothing line which successfully took over the streets of Milan. To use Pakistans truck art in their catwalk fashion range, the idea has gained much popularity.
The truck designs often have regional and religious significance attached with the people of that origin and serves a purpose that they can connect very deeply with.To fully appreciate the aesthetics, you need a good eye for detail!
